June 13, 2008

Today started with the expectation of being a run around, and I was right.  Dropped Kathryn at Akanyijuka and went to get a few little things done at the mechanics, but he was not there so I took the chance to have the car and went to the markets and bought some things that I needed.  By the time I finished the mechanic was there and I walked to the drop-in to see Cheeza (not sure of the spelling but that’s how you say his name) for the last time before he went to school.  I will see him again in the holidays, but it’s off to school for him.  I got a quick photo before I left:

Then I walked around town purchasing the rest of the items that I could on my own, (for the arrival of new children on Monday) that were in walking distance from the mechanics.  The only things remaining now are the beds, which should arrive tomorrow, after another chase up today, and a few things I will get Pamellah to help me make sure the correct purchase is made.  After this I delivered forms to the guardians of the children we are taking in on Monday so they can get them signed by the appropriate authorities.

Sometimes on paper things don’t seem too much, but when you chase up things surrounded by people running on African time, it seems to sap the energy; as such I flicked the cooking duties tonight over to the chef at a local restaurant.
