December 18, 2007

Today I walked to the drop-in centre again to help out a little as Eddie and Ben went to Kampala to try and sort out their visas.  We walked to the chemist to get some things from there as I needed a few things for Akanyijuka and she needed some drugs for Patrick, one of the boys, who had Malaria.  It is surprising here, how cheap things are.  A few dollars for Malarial drugs, one dollar for 50 worming tablets.  Even getting dental work done is cheap, Elisabeth’s fees were from around two dollars to five dollars.  I’m thinking seriously about getting a check up here before we go.   Phil said that the first dentist was a foreign dentist, but the second one was a local dentist, but was even better than the first.

Phil and Quinton went with Pastor Edward and Prossy to look for more children again.  We are going over all the children from the first list that we crossed off because of what we read on a piece of paper.  Many are not going to be taken, but we thought we should check to see if there are any extreme cases that might get missed if we did not go back and see on the ground for ourselves.  So far after going out twice Quinton says there are about 6 or 7 potential children for us to take.  We will finish going through the list as we only have 8 more spaces left until we expand, and not knowing exactly when that will be, we want to get the most needy for the spaces left.
