The headlines for the local papers today read like this:
Quinton Heals the Well!!!
Australian Rookie Missionary Lays Hands on Wrong Lady!!!!
We attended Pastor Jackson’s church again today, as Phil was preaching today. He spoke of giving thanks to God, and did a great job. He seemed a bit uneasy to start with using an interpreter, but I think that everyone really got something out of the message, and he led one lady through a prayer of salvation at the end of the service. All was going really well until Quinton was asked to pray! Jackson had asked Quinton to pray for Annette, who, unbeknown to Quinton, was in the back bedroom resting. Quinton races to the front and begins praying and laying hands on the song leader, who was quick to say ‘I’m not the one.’ To which Quinton replies ‘Oh, your not the one! Sorry, Sorry, Sorry!’ But to give credit where credit is due he recovered well and carried on where many a rookie have fallen and turned back.
After church I also attempted to give a few quick pointers to Fred, one of the green students learning drums, and to Precious, another green student, but on the guitar. I do not know how any one can have the patience to teach someone from scratch. It seems so hard to be able to tell or show someone how to do something and they just can’t get it. I guess I will just have to find out how it’s done, over then next few months, here’s hoping I can do it, or should I say; here’s hoping I keep my cool!
