I woke up early (jet lag) thinking of what lays ahead for us in Uganda, getting excited about living here and also about what we can do for the children. Today Phil set of with Pastor Edward to go to the airport in Entebbe to get his baggage that had been misplaced in transit. Kathryn and I went with Ben and Milton to look at various car yards -I think car dealers are the same all over the world.
We ended up finding a good vehicle for us to buy, a Manual 4WD Mitsubishi Delica van (Phil said all we need now is a baby on board sticker) 1995 Diesel. This was not what we were looking for, but what we had hoped for was out of our price range, and I think that the van may just serve us better than what we were hoping for anyways. We will most likely pick that up next week sometime and head straight for Kabale. Things work differently here in Uganda, the cars are displayed in the car yards in the condition they are purchased and then when someone buys they fix up anything that may need attention. The vehicle we are getting is in pretty good condition, a minor tune up, replacement of part of the dash that is broken and a good dust off is all that is needed. Off course when you buy a car here there is no knowing how it has been looked after or if it has been in a crash etc. so we are praying all goes well.
After this we met up with Phil and Edward for a late lunch and just relaxed talking for the afternoon and picked up some maps of Kampala and Uganda, thinking that if we are getting a car we had best be able to find our way around. Tomorow we are on our own for the day, probably just go to the church next door, which runs the guest house we are staying in. (http://www.namirembe-guesthouse.com/). After that we might try going to and Indian restaurant in town or something, just relaxing Ugandan style.
